I recently completed my Aussie Specialist training and I reminisced about my time in Australia. In my previous career I had the opportunity to spend 6 weeks in Perth. I only had one day off each week but I made the most of my time and explored Western Australia. With Perth as your base, there are a wide variety of options for seeing Australia’s unique wildlife and landscapes.

As a former geologist, I love exploring natural rock formations. One day I visited the Pinnacles, which are a limestone formation of various sized columns. No one knows exactly how they formed but there are different theories. Another day I visited Wave Rock and Mulkas Cave. It was interesting to learn about the Aboriginal legend associated with the cave.

Another day I took the ferry to Rottnest Island, which is famous for quokkas (a type of small wallaby). They are super cute and friendly. There are so many activities to do on Rottness such as cycling to the center to visit Oliver Hill and Wadjemup Lighthouse, snorkeling or diving, hiking, glass-bottom kayaking, relaxing on the beach, and much more.
