Looking for somewhere unique to stay in the heart of Budapest? We recommend the luxury boutique Aria Hotel Budapest. Read on for our Aria Hotel Budapest review to know why you should to stay here on your trip to Budapest.
1. Music lovers’ paradise
Everything in this hotel is inspired by music from the lobby with the piano keys, the restaurant with hanging violins, and each guest room themed after a different artist. There is even a music director (a professional classical musician) that creates a playlist for each room based on your preferences. He can also recommend concerts and cultural experiences for you.
2. Luxurious hotel accommodations
The Aria hotel is located in a typical 19th-century building with an inner courtyard. The hotel consists of 4 wings with each dedicated to a different music genre: opera, jazz, classical, and contemporary. Each wing’s elevator is decorated to reflect the genre of the wing and also plays the music of the genre. We viewed an Aria signature room in the Opera wing, so the elevator was purple and playing opera music.
Opera wing rooms feature Neo-Baroque decor and furnishings in shades of gray and purple. Each room is named after a famous musician. The room shown below is based on Rossini. The hotel does not take itself too seriously as each room has a caricature of the artist. The rooms overlooking the inner courtyard feature balconies. The lobby’s glass roof keeps the balconies very quiet.
The classical wing is also decorated in Neo-Baroque furnishings but in shades of brown with pops of turquoise. The jazz wing is decorated in cool Hollywood glamour mixed with exposed brick ceilings and hard floors. The contemporary wing is decorated in bold colors inspired by the 1970s Pop art.
3. Amazing restaurant
The restaurant’s name, Liszt, has two meanings. The first is in keeping with the musical theme and named after Ferenc Liszt, a classical pianist, and a renowned Hungarian musician. The second is that Liszt means “flour,” an important ingredient to the fresh bread baked in the kitchen. The restaurant spans three rooms. The library room is a bright and cozy room decorated in lilac. The mirror room is bright turquoise and decorated with mirrors signed by celebrities. The third room is the chef’s table. This special room only seats 8 people and features a direct view into the kitchen.
Even the menu incorporates music. The appetizers are called the prelude, the soups are the symphony, the main courses are the concerto, and the desserts are the encore.
4. Stunning Budapest views from the rooftop bar
The High Note SkyBar is the one place you must visit during your stay to enjoy its stunning 360-degree views of Budapest. However, you will need to make a reservation as it is a very popular place. The cocktails change seasonally; during the summer they are based on bucket list travels like climbing Machu Picchu and catching a sunset in Budapest. If you are not a big drinker, there is always rooftop yoga on Sunday.
5. Get pampered at the spa
The music theme continues into the Harmony Spa with the decor and types of treatments. The classical music lovers (soft as an adagio) include a calm mind relaxation massage, pampering body scrub, and pure elements body wrap. The contemporary music lovers (intense as a rock opera) include a sense of aria massage, a coconut sugar body scrub, and a firming body wrap.
The spa features private cabanas, a 35-foot indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, Finnish and infrared saunas, aromatic steam bath, and a gym.
