Nevis is the sister island of St. Kitts in the eastern Caribbean. Together, they make up the country of St. Kitts and Nevis. While the larger and more visited island of St. Kitts gets a lot of attention, the island of Nevis offers a more laidback vibe for those looking to get off the beaten path. Nevis is well worth at least a day trip during a vacation on St. Kitts. Let us inspire you with how to spend a day in Nevis.

While small commuter flights land at the small Nevis airport regularly, the easiest way to visit the island is via water taxi from the southern end of St. Kitts. Additionally, if you stay at the Park Hyatt St. Kitts, a regular shuttle is offered directly from the resort’s private dock. The trip takes approximately 20 minutes one-way.

Cottle Church

The ruins of the Cottle Church can be found hidden down a dirt road on the north side of the island. The church was built by a slave owner and he allowed slaves to worship there with his family. The church was never officially consecrated because it was illegal for slaves to worship at the time.
