We recently visited, and experienced the refined elegance at, The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. Read on to learn why this hotel should be at the top of your list when you visit Grand Cayman and how LBL Travel can help make it extra special.
1. Location
The Ritz- Carlton, Grand Cayman is located on the western side of Grand Cayman on Seven Mile Beach. Seven Mile beach is a long crescent shaped coral-sand beach with sparkling clear water, which is perfect for relaxing.
Additionally, it is only about 10 minutes from the capital, George Town. There you can enjoy duty-free shopping from large brand names or find a unique gift from a local shop or art gallery, dining at delicious restaurants, take a rum distillery tour or explore the historical museum.
Please note the resort can be divided into two areas: the resort side and the ocean side. The resort side is the main area with most of the activities and is across the road. However, both areas are easily access via a climate-controlled walkway over the road.
2. Activities for the kids
The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman is a paradise for children. The resort has
Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment which provide many activities for children and families to enjoy. You can learn about the natural wonders and cultural traditions of the Cayman Islands. The activities include: Glow in the Dark, Turtle Tales, Stingray Detective, Cayman Connection, Glass Bottom Boat Expeditions, Reef Discovery snorkel, sunset mangrove kayak, and more.
There is also Starfish Cay children’s water park: an interactive water attraction with zero entry splash pools and slides. The water park looked so much fun that I wanted to splash around in it. If you don’t want to get wet they is also tennis and basketball courts.
3. Activities for the parents
There are also plenty of activities for the parents including relaxing in a water hammock, playing a round of golf, being pampered at La Prairie Spa, playing a game of tennis, snorkeling or kayaking off the beach, or just hanging out by pool.
4. Restaurants
There are 4 dining options on the resort side, Blue by Eric Ripert, Andiamo, Taikum, and Silver Palm Lounge. Blue by Eric Ripert is a fine dining restaurant specializing in local seafood and seasonal food. Andiamo is classic Italian meets casual Caribbean cuisine. It has delicious house-made gelato and you can feed the tarpon each day at 5:30 PM. Taikun is a gourmet sushi restaurant. Silver Palm Lounge is a perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea but you do need reservations.
There are 2 dining options on the ocean side: Seven and Bar Jack. Seven is a casual restaurant with a Caribbean flair. Bar Jack is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset. It also serves casual and light meals such as salads, rice bowls, burgers, and tacos.
If you are looking to escape winter, January is excellent time to visit as the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman hosts the legendary Cayman Cookout led by Chef Eric Ripert. For more information contact your advisor at LBL Travel today!
5. Accommodations
There are three types of rooms on the resort sides: garden view rooms, resort view rooms, and harbour suites. The garden and resort views rooms are similar. Both rooms are 480 square feet and decorated in a classic elegant island design, with either a king bed or two queen beds and a balcony. The only difference is the view. We had the opportunity to see a garden view room (see our photos below). The harbour suites are 960 square feet. These suites overlook the golf course and lagoon waterways and include two 75 square foot terraces. The suites have a separate living area with a queen sofa sleeper.
The ocean side has residential suites with ocean front or ocean views. The suites have either one, two, or three bedrooms. They feature a chef’s kitchen, separate living area with dining table, sofa and sitting area, and terrace. See our photos below of an ocean view one bedroom suite.
